Grandma?

It's been a few months now since I found out I am going to be a Grandma.  I'm too young to be a Grandma!  Grandmas have gray hair and are stooped over, old ladies.  LOL

My husband and I have been having conversations about what we want to be called.  He first suggested Pappy for himself, because that's what his Grandfather was called.  Since he's even younger than me, this thought made me really laugh out loud.  I just can't imagine it!  We looked online at some websites that gave suggestions based on what other people have used.  We had the most fun reading some of the ideas.  For instance . . . Grand-Dude, Grampy, and Grampster; Big Gram, Bubbles, Mummica.

At this point, I think plain old Grandma will suit me just fine.  My husband is still pondering, but he remembered a name my daughter used to call him when she was little. . . Poppy . . . and thought maybe he would use that.  That's actually kinda cute.  Why can't I come up with a cute name for our new grandbaby to call me?  Do I go with Grandma or keep thinking . . .

  1. I don't think we decide what to be called.. it just happens. I thought "Grandma" would be it. But Lil' Bit started out calling me "meemaw" then it morphed to "mommy". For a long time she called me mommy and her mom "meeum" (sounds like her mom's name). Eventually she called me Grandma but she still calls her mom by her name LOL

  2. Funny, my uncle's children always called him and his wife by their names. I don't know what they called their grandparents.
